Located west of Sparta, this through girder bridge carries a Canadian Pacific mainline over the Little La Crosse River.
Built in 1907, the bridge consists of two identical through girder spans, set onto concrete substructures. It appears that the bridge was built when the rail line was double tracked, although the former westbound track is no longer in use.
Bridges such as this were commonly used, as ease of construction and lack of required maintenance made for an attractive design. Unfortunately, no plaques were found on this bridge.
Overall, the bridge appears to be in good condition, with little deterioration to the structure.
The author has ranked this bridge as being locally significant, due to the common design.
